Speakers' Bios
Emily Farnworth, Co-Director, Centre for Climate Engagement, Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge
Emily has over 25 years of experience working with businesses, government and non-profit organisations to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Emily was the Head of Climate Initiatives at the World Economic Forum where she was involved in setting up the Climate Governance Initiative, the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders and the Mission Possible Platform. She was involved in setting up the Climate Governance Initiative which is now hosted by the Centre for Climate Engagement in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.
Dr Ethan Aines, Research Assistant, the Centre for Climate Engagement at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge
Ethan was previously Policy Assistant at the Centre for Science and Policy and Cambridge Zero, where his work included liaising with Cambridge City Council on their policies to tackle the climate crisis and researching regional climate risk for the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Independent Commission on Climate.
Ethan's background is in archaeology and his doctoral dissertation explored human-environmental interaction and the persistence of landscape and enviornmental changes in East Anglia over the past 5,000 years.
Sheryl French, Programme Director, Mobilising Action on Climate Change and Local Energy Investment at Cambridgeshire County Council
Sheryl has extensive experience working in public sector sustainability roles. She previously worked with Cambridgeshire County Council on projects including green infrastructure planning and flood risk management. She has worked for the non-profit organisation "Cambridgeshire Horizons", where she delivered projects on quality of life and climate change mitigation.
Sheryl recently led an EU Project called "Mobilising Local Energy Investment" project which set up a Local Authority Investment Fund for energy projects investing £15.2 million into energy performance.
Councillor Rosy Moore, Executive Councillor for Climate Change, Environment and City Centre, Cambridge City Council
Rosy has been a councillor for five years and the Executive Councillor for Climate Change, Environment and the City Centre for four.
Rosy is a campaigner for the environment and as Executive Councillor, proposed a number of motions and agreed new policies and strategies which seek to reduce the council’s carbon footprint and improve air quality. These include: a new Air Quality Action Plan, the council’s Climate Change strategy, declaring a Climate Emergency and the council’s first Sustainable Food Policy.
